George Morton is quickly establishing himself as one of the North's premier conductors.
He is available to hire for Orchestral performances, Stage Shows and can also arrange works for varying ensembles.
George Morton is a conductor and arranger based in Sheffield.
Having completed his postgraduate studies in composition and performance, he has gone on to develop a busy career as a freelance conductor, arranger and educator. He is artistic director and principal conductor of the Sheffield Rep Orchestra and succeeded Stephen Vickers as Musical Director of the Sheffield Youth Orchestra in January 2015.
George is Musical Director of the award-winning Silver Spectrum Wind Ensemble, Musical Director of Thirsk Sinfonia and Principal Conductor of the Nottingham University Wind Orchestra. He has recently appeared as guest conductor with Sheffield Philharmonic, Hallam Sinfonia and West Yorkshire Symphony Orchestra. George is also a sought-after tutor in conducting across the region; he teaches privately in Sheffield and tutors conductors at the University of Nottingham Music Department in individual lessons and group workshops.
George's chamber edition of the Planets (for Ensemble or Chamber Orchestra) is published by Universal Edition and to date he has produced chamber arrangements of the Enigma Variations, Pomp and Circumstance no.4 and Tchaikovsky Symphony no.5. His arrangements have been performed in Sheffield, London, Manchester, Exeter and Talin (Estonia).
